H.265（也叫 HEVC）是 H.264 的下一代编码——同样的画质更省体积，代价是编码更吃算力。

• 用在哪：4K / HDR 交付的常见选择；1080p 日常交付 H.264 仍然最稳（见 H.264）。
• 省在哪：压缩效率比 H.264 高一档，同质量文件明显更小。
• 代价：编码慢、解码对老设备不友好——交付前想清楚观众用什么看。
• 和 265 同台的：AV1 更省但兼容性还在追；专业中间编码走 ProRes / DNxHR（见 ProRes）。

H.265 (also HEVC) is the generation after H.264 — the same quality at a fraction of the size, paid for with heavier encoding.

• Where it goes: the common choice for 4K / HDR delivery; for everyday 1080p, H.264 is still the safest bet (see H.264).
• What it saves: one tier better compression than H.264 — clearly smaller files at equal quality.
• The cost: slower to encode, unfriendly to old decoders — know what your audience watches on before delivering.
• On the same stage: AV1 saves more but compatibility is still catching up; professional intermediates go ProRes / DNxHR (see ProRes).
