MONITOR & EXPORT
It looks right on my monitor — why is the export different on their machine?
What your picture finally looks like depends on what container the client is viewing it in. So the best move: invite the client into your edit room and look at the same screen together. Everyone delivers 1080p — if they throw a LUT on it and pretty it up, of course it looks nice, but what you actually got is a different picture. So in this workflow I recommend bringing your own show LUT to set — so the on-set camera operator doesn't make, on a good-looking monitor, mistakes that post can't undo.
THE ENGLISH SESSION
Is the English session the same as the Chinese one?
Yes. Thursdays from now on are all in English, and the content is the same — I teach it twice: once in Chinese, once in English.
GOING DEEPER
I already went through it once — how do I get better?
Open the workshop site beside you and do it yourself, one step at a time — tick each step as you finish it. When you've been through the whole course, there's a self-test card at the end: see what you know and what you don't yet.
WHICH APP
What's actually the difference between all these editing apps?
Simple — there is no difference. The essence is the same: don't look at what you're using; look at whether the final result is what you wanted.
EXAM DAY
Can I take the exam before class starts?
Yes — come early and get it done before 6, then head straight to class. I'm here from around four, and I'll start waiting here at 4:30. (her on-the-spot offer, not a fixed schedule)
